Week 5 aha

Although I have learned some things from websites this week, I think the simplest way to prevent cyber bullying is to have an open and honest communication with an adult.  I think cyber bullying would be easy to deal with, because most social networking sites like Facebook allow users to limit who can send them messages and post on their pages.
I thought it was interesting to read that adults reported being victims of cyber bullies more often than kids.  I think part of this is adults are more willing to report this behavior, and kids are not sure who to talk to or how to handle the issue.

I agree that communication is a key component to preventing cyberbullying. Unfortunately, many kids don't feel comfortable or safe talking about being bullied. This was true back in the day of playground bullying as well. Many kids are ashamed so are therefore reluctant to tell an adult. And since bullies make their victims feel alone and isolated, they may feel like they won't be believed. But if parents--and teachers--have open and honest conversations about cyberbullying, victims will feel more empowered to report the behavior.

For some reason, I'm still completely shocked that more adults are being cyberbullied. It makes me wonder if there are just more adults actually reporting the instances. Maybe kids are too intimidated to say anything?
